I’m taking the obscurest of the obscure. The kind where you doubt you’ve actually seen it.
150 years ago in 1993, there were two cars that I saw that I have never seen again. One was this:
Same color, though I’m pretty sure all the brightwork was chrome instead of black. It’s a Mitsubishi Tredia. If you asked, “A what?”, you are correct. I believe they sold five of them in the US. I found it at the little buy-here-pay-here lot where my stepdad bought my Celebrity. It’s still the only one I’ve ever seen in the flesh.
The second was at another tiny lot down the street from the lot that I found the Tredia at. I found a Suzuki SA310.
AKA the Chevy Sprint. Did you know they were sold here? I mean, they sold a LOT of the next generation Suzuki Swift here, but the SA310 was actually sold here for a few minutes . It’s rarer than the Daihatsu Charade.
What have you come across that made you doubt your eyes?

I’ve seen a couple of Sprints, but no Sprint Turbos. If I saw a Sprint Turbo, I might have to try and buy it.
The rarest I’ve seen out and about is a mint Hyundai Pony, a few months ago.

I’ve owned 2 Chevy Sprints. Unfortunately, they were both normally aspirated and 5-door models. I did love them, though.

I actually know where a few of them are sitting in a field. I also know where a shit ton of Edsels are.
Actually, I have a fairly vast knowledge of cars(odd or not) wasting away in South Carolina. If I didn’t see them while traveling for work, I would document them more.

If we excuse museums or car shows, this Borgward coupe:
If we count car shows, I once saw a final year Hupmobile, the one that was a bastardized Cord.
Museum... it’s hard to say.

There’s a Sterling Rover 827 SLi that I see on a weekly basis and I once saw o ne of those weird federalized Citroen CX’s that were imported in the 80's and pretty much lost it.

I saw a Jalpa last week. Couldn't believe it. But the rarest car I probably saw was an R63 at a car show. I think there's like only a handful in America

I have seen only one Subaru SVX, and only one Audi R8.
For an average/normal car? 80s landbarges, ironically. They’ve all disappeared.

I’ve seen a bunch of R8s here. And someone in my complex has an SVX, or at least they did because I haven't seen it in a while.

I saw an Allstate at a car show once. My stepdad didn't understand why I was so interested in it.

Toyota Soarer Aerocabin. Only 500 made. Though to be fair, I saw it at the place that imported it into the US. The rarest out-in-the-wild sighting is probably a 997 GT3RS.

Hmm excluding imports and museums the rarest
I’ve seen is that Aventador Roadster I saw in Kelowna. The rarest import would be that Fiat Barchetta we had in the shop. If we’re including museum cars then that

The (yes , 1 of 1) QUANT E, running around in the city centre of Zurich . No clue whether it was actually using its “salt water” propulsion at the time.

I saw my first Nissan Pao here in Seattle earlier this weekend. No SR20 because driving.
( Washington gets a fair number of weird RHD Japanese vehicles, probably filtering down via British Columbia once they turn 25, and for the sake of comparison, I can easily see two different Mitsubishi Delicas per week.)

The one that was here was pretty ratty. It had a severe case of clear-coat eczema going on.

I have met as guy who has a 1911 Le Zébre Type A. It’s a tiny French car. Like really tiny. 71 inch wheelbase. The carburetor doesn’t have a typical butterfly valve, it has a rotating barrel with a hole in it. I believe he said it’s the only one in the United States and there are only 20 left. Sorry, I can’t my photo of it but this what it looks like,

I saw a Citroën sm once and lost it. And once a Suzuki x90. The targa topped SUV coupe.
Not sure how rare. But they are rare.
